Dr. Pem Chuki is a distinguished clinician-researcher who has made significant contributions to the field of antimicrobial stewardship and infection control. With over a decade experience, she has established herself as a leading expert in this crucial area of healthcare. Dr. Chuki was a Fleming Fund Fellowship for antimicrobial use surveillance and stewardship in Bhutan, where she pioneered efforts in stewardship. Her expertise has been recognized internationally, leading to her appointment as a WHO panel expert for the Essential Medicines List and her involvement in developing the WHO AWaRe handbook. As a WHO training trainer for antimicrobial stewardship in the South- East Asia Region, Dr. Chuki has played a vital role in educating healthcare professionals across the region. Her work as a WHO consultant has been instrumental in analyzing Point Prevalence Surveys on antibacterial use in hospitals across nine sub-Saharan countries. Dr. Chuki’s extensive experience in conducting various Point Prevalence Surveys has further solidified her reputation in the field. Since 2023, she has been involved in CAPTURA project, focusing on antimicrobial use surveillance and clinical engagement initiatives, continuing her commitment to improving global health through effective antimicrobial stewardship programmes and initiatives.
