CAPTURA Findings Dissemination in Nepal
In May 2022, CAPTURA organized a national dissemination program in Kathmandu, Nepal, to share key findings and insights from the country report on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), antimicrobial consumption (AMC), and antimicrobial use (AMU). The event served as a platform to present the results of data collection and analysis conducted under the CAPTURA project since its inception in 2019, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and key stakeholders.
The program brought together representatives from the MoHP, the Department of Drug Administration (DDA), the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL), academic and research institutions, healthcare providers, international development partners, and members of the CAPTURA team. Participants engaged in discussions on the current status of AMR surveillance in Nepal, challenges in data availability and quality, and opportunities for strengthening the national AMR response through data-driven policy and planning.
Presentations included retrospective AMR and AMU data analyses, capacity-building activities such as WHONET training, and recommendations for enhancing the integration of surveillance efforts in line with the Global Antimicrobial Resistance and Use Surveillance System (GLASS) methodology.
The dissemination event reinforced CAPTURA’s commitment to transparency, collaboration, and sustainability in AMR data systems. It also highlighted the importance of multi-sectoral engagement in combatting AMR and laid the groundwork for future initiatives and investments to build on the progress achieved.
