On December 3, 2020, the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), in collaboration with the International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS) and the Embassy of Denmark in Korea, hosted a pivotal webinar titled “Evidence to Action: Advancing the Antimicrobial Resistance Agenda during a Pandemic.” IVI
Key Highlights:
- Addressing the Dual Threats: The webinar emphasized the pressing need to continue implementing Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) National Action Plans, even amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Experts highlighted that while COVID-19 demands immediate attention, AMR remains a looming threat that could undermine decades of global health progress and jeopardize the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.IVI
- Expert Panel Discussions: Distinguished speakers from IVI, ICARS, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Kingdom shared strategic insights on leveraging existing evidence and data to combat AMR, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. The discussions focused on actionable strategies to maintain momentum in AMR initiatives during global health crises.IVI
- Interactive Engagement: Participants were encouraged to engage actively by submitting questions and comments during the live session, fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas and experiences related to AMR challenges and solutions.
This webinar served as a crucial platform for stakeholders to reaffirm their commitment to combating AMR, ensuring that efforts to address this “silent pandemic” continue unabated, even in the face of unprecedented global health challenges.
